The Centre for Learning Disability Studies
27 February 2012
Brookdale Care is proud to be attending the launch of The Centre for Learning Disability Studies at the University of Hertfordshire campus in Hatfield on the 8th March.
At Brookdale Care we continually strive to provide the highest level of care and support to our residents with autism and learning disability. In order to achieve this we have to invest in comprehensive training for all of our staff.
The following information is taken from the University of Hertfordshire website:
The Centre for Learning Disability Studies (tCLDS) is a unique collaborative project between the University of Hertfordshire and NHS South of England along with NHS East of England.
The mission of tCLDS is to prepare, support and sustain the development of the health and social care workforce to enable people where ever possible to work with people with learning disabilities drawing on evidence based practice to support them to lead valued life styles. We will achieve this by offering world class evidence based educational opportunities, as well as undertaking research and engaging in consultancy services.
This will be achieved by a unique collaboration with all our practice partners in the NHS, Local Authorities, the third sector, and supported by people with learning disabilities and their families. This exemplar collaboration will contribute to the development of a highly educated and competent workforce, whose practice will be grounded within human rights framework using a value based, Person Centred Approach.
Keynote presentation is going to be given by Professor the Baroness Hollins
