Here are some extracts from the report – read the full report here.
...sign language was continuously being used very effectively as an alternative method of communication. There was a homely atmosphere and people were encouraged to make personal choices relating to their care and how they spent their time.
...This service used monthly discovery groups to enable people to sample different activities such as hydrotherapy or art therapies. People could then decide whether or not they wanted to pursue these activities further. Following each monthly group a report was completed to show who had attended and how different individuals had benefited from the groups.
...Communal areas of the home were spacious and provided a comfortable environment for the people who lived there, and the atmosphere was homely and friendly.
...Many of the staff working in this home had done so since it opened in 2008. Our observations of interactions and our discussions with staff during this visit indicated that they knew the people they cared for well and they were committed to improving the quality of life for these people and keeping them safe.
.....staff said they felt well supported by the manager and well equipped to care and support the people in this home efficiently and effectively.
