Managing Medication - Train the Trainer

01 October 2011

Managing Medication - Train the Trainer

Name:  Managing Medication Train the Trainer (OCN Level 3)
Dates:  5/12/11 - 7/12/11
Location:  Brookdale House, Wyboston, Bedfordshire
Places:  3 left
Cost:  £350 per person, inc VAT

Following successful completion of the course and assignments you will be able to train your staff on Managing Medication and assess that they are aware of the principles of safe medication administration.

To achieve this award you are required to complete three assignments, two are based on aspects of medication and the other about training, learner’s needs and delivery of training.

The syllabus includes:

  • What is meant by the term “licensed medication”
  • The legislation relating to medication and the application of it
  • The routes of administration and the theory of how to safely administer medication via the most frequently used routes
  • The importance and legal requirements of documentation in relation to medication
  • Understand what is meant by ‘consent’ and how medication can be abused
  • The signs and symptoms of an allergic reaction and the actions to take

The award is at level 3 and requires you to attend all the training days. Complete 20 hours of self-study and keep a log of this and deliver a 15 – 20 minute micro-teach relating to an aspect of managing medication – this needs to be your own work.  You will need to prepare a lesson plan and create three learning aids to use in your sessions.

At the end of the course you will need to hand in all your assignment work, a completed learning log (totalling a minimum of 30 hours – training days plus self study), successfully deliver your micro-teach and pass your practical assessment.

Please contact Stuart Dunn for more information and how to apply for the course.
