Person Centred Care from the Therapeutic Services Group
Every resident within Brookdale Care’s care pathway is supported by the Therapeutic Services group who work holistically to create positive outcomes for our clients with autism and Asperger syndrome.
The therapeutic group includes:
- Consultant Psychiatrists
- Psychologists
- Speech & Language Therapists
- Occupational Therapists
- Nurses (Mental Health and Learning Disability)
- Specialist trained support staff
Range of Clinical Assessments upon admission includes:
- Assessment and diagnosis of Autistic Spectrum Conditions
- Assessment of other psychiatric disorders.
- Assessment of human occupational function
- Assessment of sensory differences
- Assessment of communication difficulties
- Clinical risk assessment
- Assessment of challenging behaviours.
Treatment options include the following, although are dependent on the individuals need:
- Psychotherapy including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, person centred psychotherapy for psychiatric and emotional disorders.
- Speech and Language Therapy for communication difficulties.
- Social skills training to address difficulties in social interaction.
- The use of augmented communication techniques and strategies to aid communication in social situations.
- Occupational Therapy for Activities of Daily Living and sensory differences.
- Applied behavioural analysis to reduce the severity and frequency of challenging behaviour.
- Medication review.
- Close liaison with other professionals involved in the patient's care
- Assistance with transition plans.
Before admission to Brookdale Care’s services every potential client received a Pre-Admission Assessment which includes a clinical assessment of needs, abilities and risks, as well as identifying our most appropriate care placement. A key part of the Pre-admission Assessment report is the Admission Objectives which provide clear goals that we aim to achieve with the client within their care placement at Brookdale Care.
Following admission the individual’s liaise with their keyworker and therapeutic team and discuss their likes, interests and goals and then work with staff to identify a support plan that will act as the pathway to achieving them.
