The final Adult Autism Strategy is going to be published at the end of February; this is your last chance to positively influence the outcomes of every adult with autism in England.
The passing of the Autism Act placed a new legal obligation on the Government to publish an Adult Autism Strategy that will deliver real change and improve the lives of adults with autism.
The National Autistic Society is calling for everyone to Take Action Now and give one last push to make sure that final document is strong enough to have the biggest possible impact on the ground for families living with autism (and Asperger Syndrome).
During the public consultation last year thousands of people told the Government what is needed to improve the lives of people affected by autism. The National Autistic Society strongly believes that the establishment of specialist autism teams in every local area is crucial if the Government is going to meet the needs of adults with autism. The teams would be responsible for providing a range of services and measures aimed at improving access to support for adults with autism. These services would include diagnosis, building capacity to support adults with autism through training, and providing 'low-level' services such as social skills training.
They also want to see Autism Planning Groups established around the country to identify gaps in provision for adults with autism and plan and commission services to meet everyone's needs.
The NAS have drafted an email that will be sent to your local MP urging them to act to make sure that the Autism Strategy is good enough.
Brookdale Care is excited to see the results of everyone’s hard work in making the Autism Bill and the Adult Autism Strategy a reality. We will be hosting a copy of the published Autism Strategy for you to download as soon as it is released. Please contact us on 01707 646 646 for more information or to request a copy.
