The Importance of Independent Advocacy

Posted: 2008-02-19 | Author:

We know that people with Autism and Asperger syndrome require a structured care, treatment and management plan around their individual ASD, needs, abilities and interests.

Our therapeutic team and key workers work with our clients to plan activity timetables that provide the structure and predictability they need whilst developing their independent living skills, interests and leisure activities. By engaging the client to get involved with their timetable you can ensure an increased rate of participation.

Whilst we always try to engage with the clients in an open and informal manner to encourage their input it is important that the clients have an independent person to talk to as well. The role of advocacy is to empower clients to have a say in how their care, treatment and management package is arranged. An advocate can also provide feedback of the clients wishes to CPAs, Care Professionals and Commissioners.

If you would like to talk to us about the role of independent advocates or about our services please feel free to call 01707 646 646 or email info@brookdalecare.co.uk.
