Asperger Syndrome - A Better Future

Posted: 2009-09-24 | Venue: Central London

People with Asperger syndrome struggle to make sense of, and communicate with, the world around them. In order to cope they rely on structure, routine and rules. Disruption to this structure can lead to high levels of anxiety and distress. Throughout people’s lives, effective preparation and planning is essential.

We believe that every person with Asperger syndrome should be supported and receive appropriate therapeutic intervention to ensure that they do not experience episodes of mental illness and crisis.

A better future is only possible when organisations work together and share best practice. We are delighted to sponsor this conference to raise understanding of the need for specialised support for people with Asperger syndrome throughout their lives.

Speakers include:

  • Professor Digby Tantam
  • Anja Rutten, Senior Lecturer in Psychology and Counselling
  • Christine Austin, Liverpool Asperger Team
  • Lindsey Towns, Chartered Psychologist
  • Thomas Madar, person with Asperger syndrome
  • Adam Larkin, person with Asperger syndrome
  • Nita Jackson, person with Asperger syndrome

The day will include lots of practical strategies and personal experiences to ensure you are better equipped to help people with Asperger syndrome to achieve their ambitions and fulfil their potential.

Brookdale Care is sponsoring Asperger Syndrome - A Better Future, the conference is being organised by Community Care Magazine.  Delegate rates are from £99 per person.  For more information on the conference and list a full list of speakers and subjects please view the programme, visit the Conference Website or contact 0207 3473574.
