Therapeutic Intervention

Multi-Disciplinary Team

Brookdale Care’s staff are experienced in working with people with ASD.

The multi-disciplinary team includes Consultant Psychiatrists, Consultant Forensic and Clinical Psychologists, Speech and Language Therapists, Occupational Therapists, Nurse Specialists, Nurse Practitioners, Qualified Teachers and Health Care Assistants, all of whom have training and expertise in Autistic Spectrum Disorders. They are committed to achieving successful outcomes by adopting a problem solving approach. Every resident has a crisis intervention plan which is discussed, agreed and supported by our multi-disciplinary team. Brookdale staff are creative in seeking solutions to negative behaviours and understand the importance of providing a safe and tolerant environment.

Multi-Disciplinary Team Services

The multi disciplinary team continues to have a high level of involvement in the care and management of residents throughout their stay. This involvement includes:

  • Initial assessment and diagnosis
  • Diagnostic confirmation following continued observation and ongoing psychometric and clinical assessment
  • Multi disciplinary assessment of treatment and/or management issues
  • Speech and language assessments and treatment
  • Individual risk assessment
  • Assessment of challenging behaviours and production of guidelines
  • Regular monitoring of mental health issues
  • Development of individual treatment plans by identifying an evidence-based therapeutic approach.

Therapeutic Input including:

  • Cognitive behavioural therapy
  • Dialectical behavioural therapy
  • Psychoeducation
  • Counselling
  • Close liaison with other professionals involved in the patient's care
  • Recommendations of future placements
  • Assistance with transition plans.
