Location: Milton Park Hospital, Bedfordshire

Head of Independent Hospitals – Autism Services
SALARY:
£32, 400 per annum pro rota
HOURS:
43.75 hours per week. Shift work on rotating shift pattern including days, nights and weekends. Bank contracts are also available.
REQUIREMENTS:
RMN/RNLD registered. (RGN with appropriate experience)

PURPOSE OF THE ROLE:
- To co-ordinate and provide the care and treatment of an identified group of patients without direct supervision.
- To assist in the management and organisation of work as required.
- Take responsibility for the development of practice and the delivery of evidence based practice, ensuring that it supports and reflects service user needs, Brookdale Care objectives and professional guidance.
- Contribute to the development of high quality in-patient services in a changing health care environment.
- Contribute towards ensuring that the hospital functions as an integral part of the hospitals services as well as being responsible for the establishment and maintenance of effectivecommunication with all relevant personnel both internal and external to Brookdale Care.
- Contribute to the implementation of evidence based practice within the area; this work will be supported by the Nurse Manager. The post holder needs to demonstrate evidence-based practice through applied clinical nursing practice.
- To ensure continuous personal development through the utilisation of regular supervision, annual appraisal and training where appropriate.
Key Responsibilities
- Communication and Relationship skills.
- Use a range of communication skills to ensure patients receive required treatment for well being.
- Provide effective means of communication with staff.
- Communicate sensitive information to patients and/or relatives and carers concerning the physical and/or psychological condition of the patient.
- Attend meetings and forums, representing the hospital at various levels as required.
- To act as a positive role model to staff. Through ensuring that all clinical and other information is gathered, stored and passed on to relevant hospital service/personnel. In addition ensure that all written and electronically stored information is accessible only to authorised personnel and is stored in accordance with the Data Protection Act.
- Ensuring the development of nursing practice systems for effective communication with all patients, carers, visitors, staff and other members of the multidisciplinary team.
