Accommodation

Milton Park Hospital is a purpose built hospital with small units, accommodating between 6 and 10 patients.  We provide a range of support to patients with differing levels of need and requirements.

The 10 units within the hospital provide a responsive care pathway from low secure, locked rehabilitation through to pre-discharge units.  This enables patients to be supported in the most appropriate care environment dependent on their evolving needs.

Each unit has its own kitchen, dining room, quiet room, lounge and garden; all bedrooms are en-suite with toilet and shower facilities.

How the Hospital units differ;

In terms of security levels we range from locked doors in order to ensure the safety and well being of the service users and others, through to open units. All patients are encouraged to go off the units every day, to either take part in activities in the day centre or to use community facilities with support.

We also have a unit focused on locked rehabilitation, for patients who are more independent, and are encouraged to be so, before moving on to supported living or residential placement. Here the emphasis is on preparation for moving on.

Some patients require a longer process of rehabilitation or may be waiting for a suitable residential placement. For these people we have an unlocked unit that has no nurses. This enables us to provide greater opportunities and creates a ‘bridge’ between hospital and residential care, and for them to develop and gain greater skills of independence.

We also have the ability to provide a single service facility if this style of accommodation is considered more appropriate.

Admission to Milton Park Hospital can be to any of the units depending on the needs of the individual referred. This is discussed and determined by the senior clinical team once we have received information from the referrers and carried out our own assessment.
